Davey TreeKENT, OHIO —The Davey Tree Expert Company kicked off the New Year with the acquisition of Maier Forest and Tree in Rochester, Minn., and Superior NW Tree & Shrub Care, Inc., in Seattle, Wash.

This builds on a long list of acquisitions over the past seven years, and the growth is part of a larger expansion strategy, said Pat Covey, chief operating officer for U.S. operations. “These additions will strengthen Davey’s presence in Minnesota and Washington,” he said. “It also brings us additional regional business expertise and skilled arborists, and it allows us to serve our clients better.”The Davey Tree Expert Company kicked off the New Year with the acquisition of Maier Forest and Tree in Rochester, Minn., and Superior NW Tree & Shrub Care, Inc., in Seattle, Wash.

“We are excited to welcome these companies and their talented teams into the Davey family,” continued Covey. “We have no doubt they will benefit from Davey’s diversified service offerings, technology and equipment resources, research

and development capability, and of course the culture of employee ownership.”

Owner and founder Jay Maier said his company has been in the Rochester, Minn., area for 14 years. His decision to choose Davey was based on his personal knowledge of the company. His company specializes in pruning, tree and stump removal, plant health care, and consulting services.

“My career as an arborist began after college in 1994 with Davey Tree,” he said. “I cut my teeth under their care and I owe much of my knowledge to Davey arborists who were my coworkers. I know first-hand that Davey shares our values and our commitment to client satisfaction.”

Superior NW has provided services to the Seattle area for the past eight years, and offered many aspects of residential tree care, including tree preservation, consultation and diagnosis and hazardous tree removal. Owner and founder Anthony Moran said he chose Davey Tree because he liked the additional career and arboricultural training opportunities that Davey offered his employees.

Furthermore, Moran said the customers would see an increase in the number of services offered. “While the logo and color of our trucks may change,” Moran said, “our emphasis on high quality tree care and exceptional service delivered by local arborists remains the same – and we have several exciting new services to offer.”
