SCJ Alliance Acquires Project Groundwork in Washington State

Project Groundwork, a site design and landscape architecture firm with two offices in Washington state, is joining SCJ Alliance, a planning and engineering firm.  Based in Lacey, Washington, SCJ Alliance now has six offices in three states (Washington, Idaho and Colorado) and over 50 employees.

SCJ Acquires Project Groundwork“We are delighted to welcome Project Groundwork. It’s a tremendous opportunity for both firms,” said Eric Johnston, SCJ Vice President. “Incorporating a site design and landscape component at an earlier stage in a project is a huge benefit to clients. The combining of the firms also creates a full range of complementary, professional services under one roof,” Eric shared.

Project Groundwork has offices in Seattle and Wenatchee, WA. The Seattle office will continue as an independent design studio under SCJ. An existing SCJ office in Wenatchee will be combined with Project Groundwork’s local office.

Since Project Groundwork was established in 2007, at the outset of projects they have blended civil engineering and landscape architecture design. Earlier this year it was announced the group’s principal engineer was departing. Project Groundwork’s Co-founder David Stipe understood the value of finding a civil engineering group to join forces with.
