Their operating companies are the first choice for employees and for clients in the markets they serve. Each company’s heritage is preserved and its culture enhanced through HeartLand’s focus on employee development and client service, while back-office services are consolidated and streamlined.

ABOUT HILLENMEYER

Hillenmeyer celebrated its 175th anniversary in 2016 and is a multigenerational business that began in the 1840s as a fruit tree nursery and ultimately grew into a diversified horticultural business, including a commercial landscape division. Sixth-generation Chase Hillenmeyer joined the family enterprise in 2007 and in 2016 took the leadership reins of the business from his father; Chase began thoughtfully making progressive improvements, which positioned the company for its next evolution.

Continued growth serving Lexington’s magnificent horse farms and commercial clients pointed to creating a separate identity for Hillenmeyer’s commercial landscape division. “The company’s leaders understood that to move Hillenmeyer forward, additional resources, training and capital would be necessary for strategic development. A focused search led them to HeartLand and we connected right away” says Edward Schatz, Jr., HeartLand’s CEO and founder. “When exploring who to partner with, it became obvious to us that the HeartLand leadership team consisted of industry professionals and were also genuine in how they cared about our company culture,” commented Stephen Hillenmeyer, Chase’s father and the company’s 5th generation leader.

Aside from giving the commercial landscape division a distinct and enhanced identity as Hillenmeyer Landscape Services, their strong brand legacy and exceptional service approach for horse farm and commercial clients continue unaltered in Lexington, with an eye to opening new markets.
