KK&R-Backed Brickman Group Expected to Acquire ValleyCrest Creating the Nation’s Largest Landscaper

The Brickman Group, Ltd. is in advanced talks to acquire ValleyCrest, the rival landscaping company owned by MSD Capital, Michael Dell’s family office investment vehicle.

The Brickman Group was acquired by KK&R, LP. in late 2013.  An acquisition of ValleyCrest by Brickman would create the largest landscape services company in the United States by far.

While Brickman’s operations are primarily commercial landscape maintenance, ValleyCrest has a significant landscape construction business with major corporate clients.  It is also involved in golf course management.

A transaction is expected to be valued at approximately $1 billion.  KK&R paid approximately $1.6 billion for Brickman in December.  The combined companies would employ around 20,000 people and have revenues of more than $1.7 billion.

Although the talks are in an advanced phase, they have not been completed and a transaction might not be completed.

We will provide additional information as the deal develops.
